Thaddeus Heffner
Thaddeus Heffner (b.Troy, New York) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based out of Brentwood, Tennessee, just south of Nashville. He is a graduate of Trevecca University and holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Thaddeus Heffner works with individuals, families, small groups, and couples in his office and via distance therapy sessions.
Prior to entering private practice in 2009, Thaddeus Heffner served “at-risk” youth in the public school system. In this capacity, Heffner helped both young men and women learn to cope with life’s struggles and grow into compassionate and mature adults.
In addition to his practice, Thaddeus Heffner is actively involved with several community groups including New Adam and People Can Change. The primary goal in all of his counseling is to guide clients through the healing process and help them understand that their issues are something to embrace rather than discard.
Thaddeus Heffner is experienced in marriage counseling, trauma, and sexual identity concerns including gender wholeness and homosexuality. He is a member in good standing with the Family Therapy and National Association of Research and Therapy of Homosexuality and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
CAREER
Thaddeus Heffner opened his private practice just outside of Nashville, Tennessee, in 2009. He is a respected therapist with an international client base who enjoys speaking at emotional healing workshops throughout the US.
Through New Adam, Thaddeus Heffner helps men find their own Christ-centered journey of fulfillment. He believes that men can stand shoulder to shoulder and walk with each other on their own individual paths and that no man can do life alone. Thaddeus Heffner also serves at Journey to Manhood workshops. These 48-hour intense treatment retreats are designed for men who are motivated to resolve their unwanted same sexual attractions.
In his private practice, Thaddeus Heffner offers several types of healing therapy including individual, group, couples, and gender wholeness. He is available to assist Middle Tennessee residents at his office in Brentwood and works with clients across the globe via online chat and telephone communication.
Often working with clients who have experienced some kind of past or present day trauma, Thaddeus Heffner is certified in EMDR, a trauma based therapy which facilitates diminished trauma response in clients, helping them to finally move beyond their wounds.
Thaddeus Heffner is exceptionally experienced working with men who struggle with addiction and intimacy issues, including unwanted same sex attraction (SSA). He reports that no matter what the presenting problem, most clients are suffering from some level of detachment and shame in their lives. Nothing is more important to Thaddeus Heffner than walking alongside his clients and supporting them in overcoming their struggles, healing their pain, and stepping into a healthier, integrated life. Thaddeus Heffner offers supportive group therapy sessions for parents of children dealing with SSA issues.
Thaddeus Heffner, LMFT is a fellow in good standing with the Nashville Area Association of Christian Counselors and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
