Career

Wesley Upchurch first realized his passion for customer service and social entertainment in 2004 when he accepted a full-time role with the Melting Pot restaurant in downtown Memphis. After four years as a restaurant manager, Wesley Upchurch accepted a position as webmaster at SEMCO, Inc.

Wesley Upchurch maintained variety in his career rather than focusing on one field, which sparked the creation of the Virtual Arena. The Virtual Arena is a new concept in group entertainment. There, Wesley Upchurch has reinvigorated the traditional arcade and provides visitors with unlimited access to numerous gaming systems including Nintendo Wii U, Xbox and PS3.

Wesley Upchurch describes the Virtual Arena as the sole LAN gaming center located in Columbia. It serves as a safe venue for tech savvy teenagers to relax and play games. Wesley Upchurch has developed the site so that it can accommodate up to 400 players who engage with other players in cities across the country via an Internet connection.

In partnership with general manager Matt Robb, Wesley Upchurch redesigned Gunther’s Games so that the young people of Columbia could feel the same excitement that he had as a kid when going to the arcade. Gunther’s Games is more suited for the entire family. Wesley Upchurch has developed this central Missouri attraction with amenities that fit any lifestyle. Features such as laser tag and a token arcade are just the start. The Family Entertainment Center evokes the arcades of the old days, with numerous other activities that will start a new tradition for all visitors. As an added bonus, Wesley Upchurch has led the installation of the city’s lone black light mini-golf course on the premises.
